Laura Tobin owns Laura Lou Photography and has lived in Tuscany since 2017. Her photography story began with a photograph of her daughter that, in Laura’s telling, showed her how much feeling a single frame could hold.

She spent years photographing newborns and families before brand photography became a natural extension of the same work. Many of those family clients were also business owners, and Laura found herself applying the same instinct for expression, body language and unguarded moments to entrepreneurs who did not want to look stiff or manufactured.

Her process blends preparation and spontaneity. She works with clients on goals and shot lists before a session, favours soft natural light and uncomplicated settings, and leaves enough room for the unplanned image to become the strongest one. Laura’s photography has also appeared across The Local’s own editorial work, and she later became the subject of The Local’s first Tuscany cover story.
